This is an oldie but a goodie. It is a photo journey of childbirth from conception to labor and delivery. It's wonderful to use with siblings to show baby's development when the family is about to welcome a new baby. Also wonderful to be used (in an age appropriate way) when kids ask, "Where do babies come from?" Use your own judgment about what to share and when.
Parenting With Love And Logic (Updated and Expanded Edition) by Jim Fay and Foster Cline

Techniques and ideas to help raise responsible, respectful, thinking children. In my experience, the techniques help to reduce or eliminate power struggles. But what is so fantastic is that not only do these ideas help make parenting easier, they help kids to be happier!

The Power of Play: Learning What Comes Naturally by Dr. David Elkind

He's done it again! I've been a great admirer of Dr. Elkind since I read The Hurried Child: Growing Up Too Fast Too Soon (3rd edition) in college. With this new book, Elkind illustrates the importance of play and how it helps children prepare for the real world - especially imaginative play. He discusses how play and learning are intertwined and how playing teaches our children how to be social. He shares how play actually helps to prepare the child's mind to learn more readily and fully when they start school.

Over the summer, one of our sons suffered a mild case of overindulgence. Fortunately, I had a chance to chat with one of my heroes, Jean Illsley Clarke, Ph.D., who authored, How Much Is Enough?: Everything You Need to Know to Steer Clear of Overindulgence and Raise Likeable, Responsible and Respectful Ch to help us learn about the damage that overindulgence does and how to prevent it. This book is really important stuff and is well worth the time and money.
As featured on Aricia's BlogTalkRadio show, this book is a quick read that gives practical ideas immediately, and it's sure to bring a smile to your face as you read along.
Martin beautifully translates the ancient Tao Te Ching to apply to parenting. Providing a moment to pause, reflect and reboot, The Parents Tao Te Ching provides a new perspective on parenting.
The title says it all. It's really about hearing your children and respecting where they are coming from. It teaches parents how to root out the feelings as your child speaks to you so you can empathize. A step by step guide with exercises, this book teaches you valuable communication skills that can be utilized in any relationship.
